• 青龍会 SEIRYU-E 2026.3.15 (Sun.) , 4.3 (Fri.) 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. 清水寺には、観音さまの化身である龍が音羽の瀧に夜ごと飛来して水を飲むという伝承があります。また、奥の院南脇堂に祀られている夜叉神は、この青龍の地と御本尊を守り、人々の悪縁を断ち、良縁を結ぶ神として信仰されてきました。青龍会では、長さ18メートルの青龍を先頭に、荘厳な装束に身を包んだ会衆が地域守護と除災を祈願して境内と門前町を練り歩きます。人々は観音さまの化身を見守りながら「南無観音」と唱和して、観音さまのご利益を願います。 One of the legends of the temple says that a blue dragon (Seiryu in Japanese), an incarnation of Kannon, flies to drink from the waterfall every night. Furthermore, Yasha, originally a demon-god, is enshrined in a small shrine in the south side of Okuno-in Hall. Yasha has been worshiped as a match-making god who guards the ground of Seiryu and the principal image as well as a disruptor of evil karma. At this event, with a 18-meter long figure of the blue dragon leading the way, a wide variety of performers adorned with gorgeous costumes parade through the grounds and the temple town, praying for regional peace and expelling bad luck. Observing the incarnation of Kannon performing, the audience chant “Namu-kannon” in chorus and pray for good luck. #kiyomizudera #kyototemple #清水寺 #青龍会

  • 涅槃会 | お釈迦さまの入滅が描かれた寺宝「大釈迦涅槃図」公開 DAISHAKA NEHANZU—Painting of the Buddha's Nirvana opened to the public 2026.2.15 (Sun.) - 2.23 (Mon.) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 経堂 / Kyodo hall 仏教の開祖、お釈迦さまの入滅日に、経堂に「大釈迦涅槃図」を掛けて法要をおこないます。お釈迦さまを偲び手を合わせてください。また、通常は公開されていない「大釈迦涅槃図」を間近に見ることができる機会です。 On the day when the Buddha reached Nirvana, a memorial service is held in the Sutra Hall, with an exhibition of the Painting of the Buddha Entering Nirvana, which is usually closed to the public. Put your hands together in prayer, while reflecting on the Buddha’s attainments.
